Artistic Statement

As a dancer I strive to passionately convey the truest version of myself. To dance is to express one’s own understanding and emotions through the rarest form possible. I enjoy pushing myself to my greatest capacity of physical and creative capabilities. My body is my tool, my instrument, and my temple. I am constantly being inspired by the world and people around me. Connecting to the audience to ensure they are emotionally influenced is one of my utmost important goals when performing and choreographing whether it be on my own body or on others. I believe dance is a language of the soul and mind that is transformed into physical movement. Through my training I have found that I strongly value artistry and authenticity.  I plan to continue to let dance take over my mind and body in the richest ways possible.

Teaching Statement

The dance teacher role goes beyond just teaching steps and technique but to instill confidence and life lessons that will influence the student to become the best they can be.  My job as a dance teacher is to mentor and be a role model to my students.  I teach with a positive attitude and create an encouraging environment that helps students accomplish their goals. When I teach, I make it a point to give a part of myself in each class. I thrive on generating an atmosphere that promotes creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Every student is their own unique individual and everyone learns differently. It is critical as a teacher to include various teaching styles and methods to ensure every student can get the most out of the class. A method I specifically gravitate towards is positive yet effective feedback. I feel I reach my students on a unique level that not only establishes a learning environment but a deeper student/teacher connection. I invite everyone into my class as you are and join me in indulging more in this art form that never ceases to amaze me.
